Our very first project was a rain-fed, 10,000 liter water tank built at the elementary school named Seseb. The school is located on top of a dormant volcano. Women had to climb 400 feet down the side of a muddy & steep hill to access water, and then carry it back up again to provide for 140 students everyday. After the completion of this much needed project, a celebration was held in our honor.

We built stoves at both Seseb and Seluc school. This is a simple and inexpensive project that is very much appreciated and needed by the schools. Having a proper stove with ventilation not only improves their health and daily working environment, but also helps to conserve the use of firewood. At Seluc school, we also refurbished their existing latrines. |
