MEDICAL DAY PROJECT

In March of 2009, we held a one day clinic for health screenings and medicinal distribution in Lanquin. We saw over 600 people in only 8 hours. One of the biggest health concerns were stomach and intestinal issues due to bad water.

Sadly, this problem places Guatemala with one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world. We gave medicine, vitamins and simple health education.

This event was highly anticipated by the community and was appreciated by all.

Our process for the medical clinic was in four stages:

First, families received a number and were checked in. Basic information was gathered at that time. Second, they would enter the screening room where we ran a PH test on their blood. The third stage was the check-up area where they were examined by the health care professionals, and their particular health needs were assessed. The last stop was the Pharmacy where they would receive their medications and education.
